just found myself saying that today, and subsequently found myself giggling.

ah, the noble sandwich. how many ways we brutalize your pronunciation for fun.

there is of course the traditional “sandwich” which doesn’t produce too much complexity on it’s own; until you pluralize it.

(we won’t enter into actually folding sandwiches, as that is a much lengthier discussion).

i believe the above “sangwidge” may have originated from the british isles. perhaps there is some phonetical connection to “anguish” but who could ever utter disdain over such a perfect conveyance of nutrition?

the related “sandwidge” has made popular appearances in cartoons like Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.

then we get a bit more abstract; probably based upon children’s limited fascio-muscular development, the “sammich” is also widely known. (or, personally, i make a derivation of this to also include “sammamish,” a location-based gag where brevity takes a backseat to cleverness.)

conjunctions? certainly, golfers and Simpsons fans will recognize the Sand Wedge, or in the case of the later, an “open faced club sand wedge.” mmmmmmm. open faced club sand wedge.

we could go on for quite some time about this subject, but we would become very hungry.
